central cinema

On a recent date night, we decided to finally check out Central Cinema.  It has been on our list to check out for at least a year or two, but for one excuse or another, we had yet to go to this Central District dine-in movie theater.  And we’ve been missing out!  They show some great flicks – independent, foreign and favorite oldies – and serve you dinner while you watch.  We happened to catch a Seattle-filmed favorite – Say Anything – fun to watch with an active crowd cheering Lloyd on.  Their sofa style seating with small tables is a great set-up, and their food was really good!  Centered around a wood-fired oven, their kitchen does churn out some great pizzas, but also some very tasty sandwiches, salads, and other snacks.  We were both very pleased with our burgers – Shawn’s a grass-fed Cinema burger, and mine a pumpkin-white bean with cranberry chutney.  Of course they have typical movie snacks too – but taken up a notch with things like nutritional yeast for your buttered popcorn (addictive PC accompaniment for those who’ve tried it).  They also will have specials centered around the movie’s themes.  A great way to see an old favorite – and a great date night!
